Tommy Wheless

For Sheriff of Oglethorpe County

Citizens Endorsement / Frank Waters

“As the runoff vote looms closer, we as citizens of Oglethorpe County, need to really think about what it takes to be an 13695812_10208593320204260_188729877_neffective sheriff. Anyone can go to police academy and become a law enforcement officer. They can work as a police officer for 10, 20, 30 years, and be an outstanding law enforcement officer. There is nothing wrong with that and my hat is off to them. However, just because they don’t have X amount of years of uninterrupted law enforcement time, doesn’t mean they are not qualified to be sheriff. It takes so much more than that to be an effective sheriff. A sheriff, particularly here in Oglethorpe Co., has to operate the county law enforcement center, which includes the jail, maintain a highly trained staff, allocate equipment and supplies while operating within a restrictive budget, etc.

Tommy Wheless has practical business experience. He knows what it takes to run a business. He has to operate his business within a budget so his business can succeed. This means allocation of affordable equipment, ensuring safe working conditions, problem solving and troubleshooting, maintaining payroll for his employees, just to mention a few.

Tommy Wheless has long been dedicate to Oglethorpe County and it citizens. He has worked here- in law enforcement, private business, and volunteer work- his entire life.

I had a conversation at length with Tommy Wheless and, I can honestly say I am convinced more than ever that he is the man we want as our next sheriff. Even Mr. Sid Stephens, former sheriff candidate- who’s has been in law enforcement his whole- has come out in support of Tommy Wheless because he knows also that this is the man for the job.

If you want a policeman, then by all means, vote for the other guy. But, if you want a sheriff, a man who has dedicate his life to Oglethorpe County and its citizens, then you will want to vote for Tommy Wheless.”
