Tommy Wheless

For Sheriff of Oglethorpe County

Tommy’s Plan

If elected to the Office of Sheriff, Tommy intends to make the Office more accountable for its actions.  Policies and procedures will be followed and/or enacted to ensure that Oglethorpe County Sheriff’s Office remains a professional law enforcement organization. One of the important aspects involved with accountability is the fair and professional treatment of all citizens in Oglethorpe County, while maintaining a trusting relationship.

If elected Sheriff of Oglethorpe County, Tommy also intends to make the Office more transparent to the citizens.  As Sheriff, he wants to make the citizens feel like they can count on the Sheriff’s Office to keep them safe and secure.  He will implement an open door policy allowing citizen’s access to the person whom they’ve elected to serve them, and will make himself more available to the public to ensure that if questions arise citizens will be able to ask him person to person.  This will allow Tommy to assist with any issues or concerns the citizens may have.

Civic Involvement:

Tommy strongly believes public safety education deserves an active place in our county school system. If elected, he plans on working with school administrators, the school board, and superintendent to start educational programs. These include courses against distracted driving, Drug Abuse Resistance Education, and other such programs.

Be Accessible:

Tommy believes that you must be accessible to the people you serve.  Tommy will always be accessible to the good folks of Oglethorpe County.  He also believes that good public servants should be good listeners.  The Bible teaches us in James Chapter 1:19-20 “Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:  For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.”  Tommy will be the Sheriff that if you need him on the weekend you will be able to pick up the phone and he will answer.
